Hysham Resident Drowns in Creek, Heavy Pump Holds Man Under Water

Hysham, MT. March 29, (Special) ---- Chester K. Allen, 32, of Hysham was drowned Friday afternoon in a creek at the C.E. Sweetser ranch eight miles southeast of here, where he was employed.

Allen was helping to move a large irrigation pump, estimated at a ton in weight.
The pump fell on him pinning him at the bottom of the creek, under about five feet of water.
He was drowned before the pump could be moved.

The body was taken to Forsyth.

He was born at Ellsworth, Ohio, on Oct. 27, 1907, and came to Hysham with his parents in 1910.

Later he resided at Dean, Absarokee and Forsyth before returning to Hysham.

Mr. Allen was a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Forsyth and a member of the Presbyterian Church there.

An anniversary dance scheduled by a local business firm here Saturday night has been postponed in respect to him.

Mr. Allen is survived by his mother, Mrs. E.G. Pimm of Hysham, MT., a sister, Miss Marjorie Allen of St. Paul, MN., a brother Maurice Allen of Billings, MT., and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Klingman of Forsyth, MT.
