Former Official Dies at Forsyth
Harry M. Allen, 59, was Undersheriff and Deputy
FORSYTH, MT. March 27, -- (Special) -- Harry M. Allen, 59, former Rosebud County Undersheriff and Deputy Officeholder, died of a heart attack at 1 a.m. Friday, in a Rosebud County Hospital here.
Mr. Allen underwent an operation for hernia a week ago.
He first served as Undersheriff under Sheriff Harry Gierson during the years 1915 -16, and again was undersheriff under Sheriff C.E. Thompson in 1922.
During 1926-1927 he served as a Deputy Sheriff.
At intervals between 1917 and 1924 he was Deputy Assessor of Rosebud County.
A son of Chester and Fannie Coit Allen, he was born in Ellsworth, Ohio, Feb. 25, 1877.
He grew to manhood in Ellsworth and was married there to Miss Esther Klingerman.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen came west in 1910 and settled in Rosebud County in 1914.
Mr. Allen was active in affairs of the I.O.O.F. and was a past grandmaster of the local lodge.
He was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, Chester and Morris, and a daughter Marjorie Allen all of whom have resided at Hysham, MT. the last year.
Surviving also are two brothers, Francis Allen of Ellsworth, and J. Coit Allen of San Francisco, CA., and a sister, Mrs. E.B. Kirk of Saint Paul, MN.
Funeral arrangements are pending word from relatives.
Committal services in the Forsyth Cemetery, Forsyth, MT., will be in charge of local Off Fellows it was stated.
