Born in New York she came to Iowa at the age of 7. She married Stephen Mulnix on Nov 15, 1860. Two children were born to this union, Alonzo Mulnix, Nov 18, 1862 and Nancy Jane Mulnix, Feb 9, 1864. Stephen was killed during the Civil War. Mary Jane then married Janthan Jerrod Beebe Nov 6, 1865 in Tama County. She moved with him to Runnels & Vandalia Iowa where they farmed until his death in 1892. They added 4 children, Loretha, Laura, George and Chauncey, with stories that Frederick was
adopted. William Hodson, who validated Janthan Jerrod's service in the civil war for pension assistance became her husband Jan 5, 1893. They resided in Runnels until his death Sept 24, 1910. She was able to claim veteran's benefits from both Stephen and Janthan J, as they both fought in the Civil War. In 1911 following William Hodson's death she moved to Des Moines to be close to her son Chauncey A. Beebe and family. While preparing to leave for the Veterans Home in Marshalltown, she was run down by an automobile and killed. See Des Moines Sunday Register March 20, 1921. She was to have been buried in Vandalia with one of her husbands, however, she was interred in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.
