Born in Lenawee County, Michigan in 1850. A son of Carl and Lena (Lipp) Schletz (married in Lenawee County in 1852). George had two Brothers; Philip & Julius.
Their father, Carl, died in 1859. Julius died at the age of five. Carl's widow, Lena, with her two remaining sons, Philip and George, settled in Wauseon, OH. in 1865 where they reside (as of this writing)
George's mother, Lena was born in Heidelberg. Germany, and came to America in 1849 with her parents (George and Susan Lipp). They settled in Lenawee county, Michigan where they both died. He in 1872, and she in 1881, leaving a family of six children.
George Schletz was married in 1885 to Charlotte "Lottie" or "Lotta" Bandau, who was born in Prussia. They have one child, Minnie Lena. (and later a second daughter named Mayme). Lottie came to America with her mother in 1865, and settled in Toledo with her three sisters in 1867. Lottie's Mother moved to Napoleon, where she died in January of 1880.
George Schletz became engaged in the general flour and feed business in company with his mother and in 1885 became sole proprietor of the business. He has added a steam feed mill, and has largely increased his business.
