Man Burned When Jug of Gasoline Ignites
A man suffered burns on the body last night when a glass jug containing gasoline broke in the basement of his home and the fumes ignited the furnace. Stephen Harrigal of 1942 Columbia Avenue Swissvale told officers that the gallon jug was accidentally broken and the gasoline ignited and burned him before he could escape. Firemen responded to an alarm and extinguished the flames that had spread from the basement to the first floor. The loss was estimated at $2,500. Mr. Harrigal was taken to Braddock General Hospital and detained.
