ONLY THREE RACES EXPECTED IN LINN
Most of County Offices Settled at Primary.
DUAL NOMINATIONS WON
At Least Six Candidates Chosen by Both Parties - Three Contests Due in November
ALBANY, Or., May 23 - (Special) - The results of Friday's primaries show that there will be few contests for county offices in Linn county in the general election in November. At least six candidates have been nominated on both the republican and democratic tickets and it is probable that another has received both nominations.

The six named by both parties are...; Charles H. Leonard, republican, running for re-election as county surveyor;...It is probable that Charles C. Curry, republican nominee for county recorder, has received the democratic nomination also, but a number of names were written in and as some boards did not include these on their unofficial statements it will require the official canvass of the vote to determine definitely." Loses Lives At Crossing

Charles Leonard, about 60, partner in the contracting firm Leonard & Slate, and Jack Ware, 47, superintendent for the same firm, were killed Wednesday afternoon when a pickup truck in which they were riding was struck by a westbound freight train at the grade crossing of Monument road and the Union Pacific railroad, about one mile west of crown point.

Leonard and Ware had been inspecting work on the new water-grade Columbia River highway, on which their firm has a construction contract in the vicinity of the accident.

Leonard’s home was at 4144 S. W. Canby street, Portland. Ware was a resident of Troutdale.

Deputy Sheriffs Leonard Givens and Ed Fuller, who investigated the accident, said that the left rear wheel of the truck spun a puddle with the result that the truck, partly on the railroad track, was unable to go either forward or back. The locomotive, the deputies said, knocked the truck 65 feet. Apparently both men were killed instantly.
