Clarence Dunn was born on a ranch in the valley northwest of Harrison, Nebraska. He was the eldest son of Philip Dennis and Lenora Sherrill Dunn. He attended the Klondike rural school on the divide and he came to Douglas, Wyoming for high school and stayed with his uncle and aunt, Joe and Anna Dunn. He worked after school at the Patterson-Dunn pool hall. In 1919 he moved with his parents to the Fort Fetterman ranch and was a Wyoming resident since that time. He was a genuine bronc rider who had ridden in Madison Square Garden when he went with the Lem Carmin show. He was employed for several years by Morton's Inc., Saul and Zimmerman, Hulbert Mathison of Gillette, Eddie Raeber and others. He was also a talented wood carver.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dona and Dewane Dawes of Riverton, Wyoming; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Ann Dunn of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Ralph Dunn of Douglas; three sisters, Mary Bruner of Douglas, Edith Holden of Casper, Ruth Reber of Yucaipa, California; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
