Murphy Smith, 72, died Sunday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. in his home at Speers following an illness of the past six months.
A resident of the Speers community for the past 53 years, Mr. Smith was employed by the American Sheet and Tin Plate Company, Monessen, for 37 years before he retired several years ago.
He was a member of the Baptist Church of Girards Fort and the Knights of Malta.
Surviving are his wife, Susie (Crago) Smith; three daughters and two sons. Two sisters, Miss Elsie Smith and Miss Floy Smith, both of Twilight, and one brother, Harry, Twilight.
