Johannes Ludwig "Lewis" Feiock, born Jul 21, 1794-97 Germany – Dec 2, 1864; buried St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Harrison Co., IN

Caroline Simon, born Germany Sep 22, 1797 – Jul 7, 1872.

Lewis immigrated at age 42, a farmer from Bavaria, from Germany and travelled to Le Havre, France to board the ship "Great Britain", which arrived in New York City on July 27, 1837. Travelling with him were Phillip Feiock, 32; Katherina Feiock, 22; Katherina Fieock, 3 and Friedrich Feiock, 2. Phillip is probably a brother (or cousin) of Ludwig and he most likely accompanied them to America to pave the way for his wife Caroline and their children to soon join him. Between 1838-40 the entire family had left Germany, settling initially in Pittsburg, PA. Between 1850 – 1860, Ludwig (Louis) and other members of the family relocated to the town of Morgan in Harrison County, IN.

Caspar Feiock married Margaret Hildebrand (Dec 25, 1843 – Sep 15, 1927) in Harrison County, IN; Margaret was born in England to German parents, from Hesse-Darmstadt – their names may have been Wilhelm and Tusi – further research needed. Wilhelm's mother may have been Elizabeth.

Clarence, born IN Dec 28, 1882 – Mar 1, 1955; married Oct 25, 1911 Mary Catherine Parsons (Dec 7, 1889 – Feb 12, 1949). Her parents were George Thomas Parsons (1858-4/29/1893 typhoid pneumonia) and Julia Ann Baugh (1866-4/1906 consumption). Julia's parents were John Baugh (born TN 1833, died 1919) and Isadora Byard (born Marietta, OH 1843, died 1918). Her parents were John D. Byard (born 1795 in New York, died 1859 in Stewart, TN) and Prudence Hoff (1817-1884). John Byard fought in the War of 1812.

Casper Feiock and Joseph F. Applegate applied for a bung hole improvement patent. Letters patent # 101,078 was given as witnessed by Jacob Herter and John Dietz (document enclosed). Another patent shared between Feiock and Applegate, # 114,089, and issued Apr 25, 1871, concerned improvements for Coopers' Croze's. Feiock and Applegate also witnessed a patent (#116,146; Jun 20, 1871) for Phillip Brecher of Louisville for a fireplace improvement.


1905 Jun 7, US Passport Office (document enclosed)
Caspar Feiock applied for a passport in Louisville, valid for 6 months, to be forwarded to Jacob Krickser, in Bornheim, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, witnessed by C.W. Schulz, 306 W. Market. Casper described as: 64 years old, 5' 11", high forehead, blue eyes, medium nose, small mouth and chin, gray hair, ruddy complexion and oval face. According to a C-J article of Jun 10, 1905, he was going to Germany to look after interests in an estate inherited from relatives and to look after friends.

1916 Mar 11, C-J obituary, page 5 – Former Resident of New Albany Dies on Farm North of City
The funeral service for Caspar Feiock, 75 years old, a resident of New Albany for many years, who died Thursday night at his country home near Galena, eight miles north of the city, will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the home of his son, Clarence Feiock, 1910 Elkin avenue. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Feiock had been in poor health for some time, suffering from heart disease, which was the cause of his death.

Mr. Feiock was a native of Germany, but had lived in New Albany for half a century or more. For many years he was engaged in the saloon business at State and Market streets and afterward at Vincennes and Spring streets.

He retired ten years ago and moved to a farm. Besides his wife he is survived by eight children. George, Louis, John and Clarence Feiock. Mrs. C.W. Fleischer and Mrs. Carrie Walden, of New Albany. Joseph Feiock, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. William Kilpatrick, of St. Louis.
