Myrle was legally blind. In the 1920 Census she was living at the State School for the Blind in Gary, Deuel, South Dakota. She could see enough to walk around and in the 1930 Census she was listed as a servant, working in the home of her uncle Charles and aunt Lizzie. Myrle moved to New York with her mother, Laura Cook Hoellein Taylor (Mrs. Guy Taylor) and aunt, Faye Cook Hoellein. She never attended public school and never married, She enjoyed listening to music.
