Parents: Edward Clarence Francis Abbey (9-25-1887 to 8-18-1972) and Abigail Elizabeth (Warren) Abbey (5-22-1902 to 9-21-1992)

Siblings: Iva (Abbey) Barber, Edward Erwin Abbey (6-19-1922 to 10-27-1922), Ethel (Abbey) Thompson (10-15-1924 to 3-30-2006), Mina (Abbey) Papke, Grace (Abbey) Shell, Lewis Dean Abbey (11-4-1934 to 3-7-1999), Lucille Elaine Abbey (4-2-1937 to 5-19-1953)

Gilbert was a special man who lived with his parents most of his life. Quiet and unassuming, he was loved by family and all who met him. Later in life, when he had an opportunity to become employed, at the "Lapeer Vocational Technical School", he eagerly accepted the challenge. What made him especially happy was the fact that he earned a paycheck each week. If asked about his job, he'd reach in his pocket and proudly display the cash he'd made.
