Son of Edward Miller and Jessie Pattison (Imbrie) Miller.

Graduating from Princeton University in 1870, he entered Seminary at Princeton the same fall, graduating in 1873. He was licenced by the Presbytery of Jersey City on Jan. 4, 1874, and ordained by the Presbytery of Chester Sept. 24, 1875. The same day he was installed as the pastor of the Bryn Mawr church, which he served singularly for thirty-three years until his death. He received the degree of Doctor of Divinity from Princeton College in 1889.

He never married.
