He also was in charge of Music in the City of Philadelphia Public Schools in 1840's. He also in charge of the Music in the Christian Sanitation Fair of 1864 in Philadelphia.

He married Isabella M. Jackson Bower on January 20,1840 at First Independent Church in Philadelphia Pa.
