Leonard Bates
Mr. Leonard Bates, a well-known resident of northern Indiana County, died at his home near Deckers Point on April 4th, aged 69 years. The deceased was born in White Township December 23, 1842. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Company A, 106th regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. September 22, 1870, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaretta J. Black, who survives him with the following children, Mrs. John Braunns and Mrs. H.M. Hess, of Punxsutawney; Mrs. Harry Gilpatrick and Elmer E. Bates of Deckers Point, and Harry E. Bates, residing at home. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Strayer, of Allegheny, on Friday, and interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Rochester Mills.
