Rosemary Cipriani Bennett of the town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81.

Daughter of the late John and Angelina Prisco Cipriani, she was born on May 10, 1930 in Newburgh. On July 22, 1951 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, she married Lawrence E Bennett, who survives at home. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year
Rosemary was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her love of her family was expressed not chiefly in words but in what she did for them. She put her intelligence and drive to work to support her husband, children and grandchildren in everything they did. Talented at working with her hands, she enjoyed making clothes, candy-making and other handicrafts. She enjoyed travel, her favorite destinations being Italy and Ireland. For 25 years, she enjoyed working on and attending the annual reunions of her husband's Army division.

She was a 1948 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and attended Westchester Community College. She was an operator for the New York Telephone Company in the 1950's and a retired employee of Shop-Rite Supermarkets. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, a former member of the Town of Newburgh VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Telephone Pioneers, and a longtime election inspector.

In addition to her loving husband, Lawrence, she is survived by her children, Terrence M. Bennett and his wife Ellen Tabor of New York City, Patricia Bennett Greer and her husband Brad of Summit, NJ; grandchildren, Stephen and Robert Bennett, Christian, Katie and Charlotte Greer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, John Cipriani.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, October 20 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
