Sivert Vines Jakobsen Lothe, son of Jakob Arnt Jakobsen Lothe and Elen Andrea Mathiasdatter, was born in Bjørnør (Roan parish), Sør-Trøndelag, Norway 10 July 1870. He was the second of three sons, and one sister. His brother Jakob Martinus Jakobsen Lothe stayed in Norway and continued to run the farm, raising his own family there. Sivert immigrated to "Amerika" in 1891 on the shop Domino, dropping the Jakobsen surname and adopting his farm name Lothe. He married a Norwegian girl, Hanna Sofie Jensen, from Vestre Fredrikstad, Ostfold, Norway, and together they raised five children in St Paul (Alvhild, Harold S, Borghild, Erling and Raymond W. Sivert passed away in 1849, shortly after the death of his wife.
