Born on 20 Oct 1878 on the family farm in Tatamagouche, Colchester, Nova Scotia, Canada, Harry Weller McDonald (H. W.) was the second son and third child of seven born to Robert C. and Mary Jane (Stevens) McDonald.
Harry and his entire family emigrated to the USA, settling in Smyrna Mills, Aroostook, Maine in 1895. Here he worked as a day laborer.
On 20 Aug 1901, Harry was married to Inez Sibyl Gardner, the daughter of Enoch R. and Harriet A. (Lilley) Gardner. They would eventually become the parents of 8 children:
Verne L., Iris A., Madelyn V., Mark E., Rex G., Kathleen H., John R. and Rodney E.
Harry, Inez would remain in the Smyrna Mills, / Merrill area their entire lives. Here, Harry would become a naturalized U.S. Citizen and work at various jobs, including, day laborer and carpenter.
Harry Weller McDonald died on 27 May 1948 at the age of 70. He was buried in Merrill Cemetery, in near his wife's parents and siblings. As the years passed, other family members would be buried in the same section of the cemetery.
