Erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1913, the monument is in honor of the nine hundred Confederate soldiers whom died in the hospitals in Little Rock, Arkansas, during the Civil War in 1863. Most of their remains are interred within the grounds of the Oakland Cemetery.
