Harold worked as a baker at Nolls Bakery Company in Alton, and later became a bakery superintendent. He died in 1941 at the age of 45.
Esther went to work as a clerk at Young's Dry Goods Store in Alton. She was employed there for 20 years. She also worked as a custodian at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois for 20 years.
At the time of her death at Alton Memorial Hospital, Esther was 86 years and 17 days old. She was survived by 1 daughter, Betty Fullagar of Alton, Illinois; 1 son, William Wilkinson of Bunker Hill, Illinois; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold.
Visitation was held on 06 Feb 1987 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services were conducted there at 10 a.m. the following morning. Esther was buried next to her husband, Harold, who passed away in 1941.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the American Heart Association.
