Annamae Hartley, 67, of Watertown, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at a Watertown Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 23 at the First United Methodist Church of Watertown with Rev. Eric Grinager officiating. Interment will be in the Garden City Cemetery of Garden City.

Special music was provided by Dorothy Brugman, accompanist; and Wendy Hartley, soloist.

Pallbearers were Rick Hartley, Joel Nichols, Roger Young, Dale Johnson, Brian Aker and Justin Redmond. Honorary Pallbearers wre all grandchildren, neieces and nephews.

Annamae Nichols was born July 3, 1933, at Watertown, the daughter of Robert and Gathel (Leighty) Nichols. She attended grade school in Phipps Township and high school in Wallace and Garden City. She was employed by the Ray Green family as a housekeeper for several years.

On Oct. 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Merle J. Hartley at the Methodist Church in Garden City. The couple farmed in the Henry area. She was employed by her sister, at Esther's Draperies, for 10 years and then at Sew and Save. The couple moved to Watertown in 1986.

Mrs. Hartley was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Ladies Circle, the Jolly Neighbors Club and the Cousins Birthday Club.

Mrs Hartley is survived by her husband; three daughters, Linda and Brian Haan of Watertown, Diann and Rodger Redmond of Henry and Dawn and Kevin Berner of Watertown; a son, Steven Hartley of Henry; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Neal and Cleo Morey of Watertown and Margie and Erland Johnson of Clark; and two brothers, Robert and Bonnie Nichols of Watertown and Don and Eileen Nichols of Spearfish.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Esther; and one brother, Raymond.
