Before moving to New Paltz, Carol was a longtime resident of Fishkill while raising two children, Stephanie DeGoski and Edward Thom. She served for many years as a Girl Scout Leader as well as a volunteer Craft Director for a Poughkeepsie Senior Center and was very active with her church. Carol will be remembered by those of us who knew and loved her for her love of gardening, sailing, crafts, shopping, photography and travel.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. M. Noble and Cynthia Kerr Bates.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Lynn DeGoski of Poughkeepsie, NY; son, Edward Noble Thom of Melbourne, FL; sister, Katherine Vitters and her husband, Ret. Col. Alan Vitters of Northport, NY; nephew, Scott Vitters, his wife, Cynthia and their son, Liam.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday October 29 at the Reformed Church of Beacon, 1113 Wolcott Ave., Beacon, NY. Internment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Carol's memory to Benedictine Health Foundation - Linda Young Ovarian Cancer Support Program, 105 Mary's Ave., Kingston, NY 12401.
