Anthon was born to Jorgen Peterson and Mattie Jensen (Jensdatter)in Wenerberg, Hjoring, Denmark. He traveled to America April 11 1859 from Liverpool on the William Tapscott sailing vessel, landing in New York May 13 1859. He joined the George Rowley handcart company traveling to Salt Lake, Utah. 8th handcart company. 235 individuals, 60 handcarts, and 8 wagons were in the company when it began its journey from the outfitting post at Florence, Nebraska (now Omaha). They departed from the 7-10 June 1859, and arrived in Salt Lake City 4-6 September 1859.
Anthon met and married Emma Phillips in Morgan, Utah. They were business owners in Morgan, UT and in Ogden, UT.
They have three Sons, Anthon Edward Peterson, Hyrum Lorenzo [Skoe] Peterson, Earl Peterson. All are buried in Ogden City Cemetery.
