This is where my Great Grandmother, Lizzy McDonald Smithline is buried. My great grandmother passed April 20, 1935. She was born in 1875 but I do not know the exact date. Elizabeth is one of four persons buried in this same grave. The first person buried here was my Great Grandfather, her husband, Charles Francis Smithline, Sr., then it was Lizzy, then my Great-Great Grandmother Delia who was born in Ireland, and my Grandmother Anny Connor.
Elizabeth McDonald married Charles Francis Smithline on December 18, 1900, and they had five children together: Wallace Douglas Smithline, Charles Francis Smithline, Jr., Anny Smithline Connor, William Smithline, and Geniveve Jane Smithline Blust Walters.
My mother described her Grandmother Lizzy as a very kind and loving grandmother. She took care of my mother and her siblings while her parents ran their restaurant business.
My mother also passed along stories to us from her grandmother. Her grandmother told her that she came over her from Ireland when she was just a wee child. My mother said she still had a very strong accent. This has been disputed over the years, that she was indeed born in the U. S. but maybe gained her accent from her mother, Delia, who infact came here from Ireland. I hope to find out the truth very soon.
