"Billy Hill of Ezel has been confined to his home for several weeks with typhoid fever and is not now expected to live. His brother Jimmie Hill and sons, of Illinois, were summoned by telegraph and reached his bedside on Sunday evening. He was better yesterday."
The following Thursday's edition (Oct. 3, 1901) carried this paragraph:
"Billy Hill, whose illness has been reported in these columns, died at Ezel on Monday morning about 8 o'clock of fever, aged about 47 years. He was buried at Maytown on Tuesday under the auspices of the Masons, he being a member of Ezel lodge."
