Little is known about William (also known as Willman)Halsey at this time.

William John Halsey was born 4-22-1818 in the state of New York. The son of Wilman and Martha (Ewers) Halsey.
William was the son of Martha's first husband. After he died, she married again and had one more son Sidney Hart. This is the only known sibling of William.

He was married to Hannah Southmaid (sometimes spelled Southmayd). To this union was born 10 children. The known ones were born in Delta Township, Michigan and those with unknown given names were born in Eaton and Ingham Townships. . Research is still be done on the unknown 10th child.

*At this time little is known about Zidera. She was married to David Benton Lane with at least one son. It appears she was a second wife as he was much older than her. She died April 1888 in the Leslie are and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Leslie, Michigan

** Daniel did live to adulthood. His time and place of death is unknown. All that has been found about Daniel is an article where he borrowed Paul's horse and buggy to go to Mason to see a doctor. He did not return and sold it in Eaton Rapids. Paul paid to get the horse and buggy back instead of placing charges against Daniel. Nothing more has been found at this time.

At this time a death certificate or obituary have not been found.

Hannah died March 10, 1902 age 84 years, 8 months, 12 days.

William is buried on the Halsey plot in Howard Cemetery. All graves are unmarked except for 2 metal hoops that mark the graves of 4 children that died many years before. Paul is there and Hannah's sister Sarah, who passed July 5, 1897.
