Actress, Singer. She was a German film and television actress who was best known for her resemblance to American actress and icon Marilyn Monroe. This earned her the nickname of "Berlin's Marilyn Monroe" and she became a sex symbol due to her appearances on numerous magazine covers and due to her acting work in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. She will be best remembered for playing the role of 'Polly Nichols' the first victim of Whitechapel murderer Jack the Ripper in the crime mystery thriller film, "A Study In Terror" (1965). The film which was directed by James Hill, written for the screen by Derek Ford, based on characters by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and which also starred John Neville, Donald Houston, Frank Finlay, John Fraser, John Cairney, and a young Judi Dench, tells the story of the great master detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. John H. Watson who joins the hunt for the notorious serial killer, Jack the Ripper. She is also best remembered for playing the role of 'Joan Van Meeren' in four episodes of the crime television series, "Gestatten - Mein Name ist Cox," in 1965. She was born as Uschi Müller in Berlin, Germany, on March 14, 1932. She was educated at the Schauspielschule of the Shillertheater in Berlin, Germany, in 1956, and took ballet lessons. She also engaged in the stage in Zurich, Switzerland, from 1957 to 1959, and studied under actor, film producer, and theatre director, Gustaf Gründgens at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Germany, in 1959, before eventually turning to appear in film and on television.
