Frances (Markowski) Chmiel, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at her daughter Patricia's home in Cranford, New Jersey, with her loving family at her side. Frances was born in Bayonne and was a lifelong resident, residing the last 3 years in Cranford. Frances was a former member of the Mt. Carmel PTA and a former Marist Mother. Frances is pre-deceased by her husband Zygmunt F. Chmiel in 2003; her parents, Walter Markowski Sr. and Catherine (Oleck) Markowski; and also her siblings, Marie Markowski, Veronica Rozman, Joseph and Thaddeus Markowski. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Patricia Thiel and her husband Perry; her sons, Paul Chmiel and his wife Lucie, and Michael Chmiel and his wife Joyce; her sister Eleanor Horne and her brother Walter Markowski Jr.; also 4 dear grandchildren, Paul Michael Thiel, Melissa Johnson and her late husband Carl, Jill Beyer and her husband William and Christopher Chmiel and his wife Lisan; and 3 loving great-grandchildren, Carlissa Johnson, Tyler and Kayla Chmiel. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass in her honor will be offered on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church; Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, New Jersey.
