ALLEN MOSHER DEAD-Had Spent His Entire Life in the County of Cayuga
Allen Mosher of Aurora, one of Cayuga county's oldest citizens, died at his home in the village of Aurora, Saturday afternoon after a very brief illness, angina pectoris causing death.
He was a son of the late Cynthia Wood and Asael Mosher, and was born in the Town of Venice March 15, 1825.
In 1856 he moved to the Village of Aurora and engaged in the grain business with Henry and Edwin B. Morgan in the days when great quantities were handled in the storehouses and canal boats on Cayuga Lake. Since 1865 he has been in the banking business with the First National Bank of Aurora. He has been a cashier for 40 years.
He was a man of retiring disposition, sterling and honorable in character, which had won for him the esteem and respect of citizens not only in this county but in central New York.
He was married to Marion Wheeler, sister of former Mayor Wheeler, January 2, 1851. She died August 23, 1901.
A son, Evans W. Mosher, and one daughter, Mrs. H. Wheeler Powell of Aurora, survive.
Funeral services will be held at his home Wednesday at 2 p.m. and burial will be made in the Aurora Cemetery.

AURORA, Nov. 26.—Allen Mosher, a well-known banker, died yesterday morning at his home in this village after a brief illness. He was in his eighty-second year and had lived in the house in which he died for thirty-six years.
During his early business career he was engaged in the grain business, having had several storehouses when traffic in grain on the canal was heavy. Since 1865 he had been connected with tho First National Bank of Aurora and at the time of his death he was its president. His son, Evans W. Mosher, is cashier. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. H. W. Powell, also of Aurora.
Mr. Mosher was well known among the bankers and business men of Central New York and especially of Cayuga County. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00.
