Mary "May" Dougherty passed away at home on Thursday, November 3, 2011. She was 87. Mary lived in Norwood for the past 51 years and had been President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Norwood VFW. Mary had a beautiful singing voice. She was a cantor and choir member at Saint Gabriel's Church and sang with the choir and guitar group at Saint George Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Dougherty, Jr. and her twin sister. She is survived by: her children Claire M. Acquarola (Frank), Christine J. Kidd, Cheryl A. Brooks (Bill), Claudia S. Ippoliti, Edward F. Dougherty III, Cindy K. Campbell (Jack), Cecelia C. McCabe, Connie D. Taylor (Bob), Chuck Dougherty (Fran), Colleen Kennedy (Wayne) and David D. Dougherty (Chrissy); 44 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Many relatives and friends attended her viewing on Tuesday, November 8th from 6 to 9 PM and Wednesday after 9 AM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, November 9th at 11 AM at St. Gabriel's, Mohawk Ave., Norwood. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to The Mothers' Home, 51 N. MacDade Blvd., Darby, PA 19023 are appreciated.
