Funeral services for Agnelia Deshotels Munsey, 84, will be held Monday, May 28 at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas with burial in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.
Mrs. Munsey died at 12:10 p.m. May 26, 2001 at Opelousas General Hospital. Rev. Gene Tremie will conduct the services.
Mrs. Munsey, formerly of Gilchrist, Texas, was a retired legal secretary with Sun Oil Company.
Survivors include: one sister, Mrs. Eli (Theresa) Speyrer, of Opelousas; 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Arthur and Marie David Deshotels; two brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Deshotels; and her husband, Sydney Munsey.
Mrs. Munsey was also given the Bishop Service Award for Community and Church Work two years in a row for the Diocese of Galveston, Texas. Additionally, she and her husband established the volunteer fire department in Gilchrist. She served as an officer and member of the Gilchrist Women's Club for 15 years. She also belonged to the Gilchrist Women's Auxiliary Fire Volunteer Department and served as a bookkeeper for Bolivar Catholic Church in Gilchrist.
Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Highway is in charge of arrangements.
