Armand Jessop, 65, president of J. Jessop & Sons, pioneer San Diego jewelry firm, died in a hospital here this morning. He had suffered a heart attack yesterday while attending a directors' meeting in his store.

Long one of San Diego's most active business men, Mr. Jessop found time for other activities, including participation in sports and cultural work as well as in civic life.

A resident of the San Diego area since 1890, Mr. Jessop also headed Jessop Bros., Inc., a realty holding company. His home was at 800 First Avenue, Coronado.

He was vice president of the National Jewelers' association, a life member of the San Diego Rowing club, a member of the San Diego Yacht club, a state park commissioner and a member of the Natural History society. He also served a term as Coronado city councilman.

Mr. Jessop leaves his wife, Mrs. Elsie Jessop; three children, Arthur and David Jessop, of San Diego, and Mrs. Alvah DeWeese of Los Angeles.

His brothers, associated with him in the jewelry firm, are Alonzo de Jessop, Richard, George and Joseph Jessop. The sisters are Mrs. F. T. Scripps, of Pacific Beach; Mrs. F. C. Sherman, Mrs. Seth Anderton and Mrs. A. E. Holloway.

Funeral services Are being arranged at the Benbough mortuary.
