On his tombstone, it show he was born on August 9, 1892, but acording to his birth records from the county court house in Franklin County, Va, he was born in March 1892. My grandfather was a coal miner by trade. He had worked at Eccels Mines near Beckley, West Virginia. He was there when there was a major explosing in one of the mines that had injured and killed serveral miners.That was in April 1914. He went on to work at the Oakwood-Carlise Mines where he had worked until the year before he had died.
