British Television Producer. Served as Producer of Doctor Who, the longest running continuous sci-fi series to date, from 1979 to the shows cancellation in 1989. Born and raised in Birmingham, he was a stage manager and actor at the Everyman theatre in Chelmsford before going to work with the BBC. He maintained his interest in Doctor Who well after its cancellation, producing special programming and writing books. He was buried in Brighton, where he lived for many years with his partner Gary Downie.
