Son of Maltiah and Sarah (Farrar) Lothrop, was
born in Barnstable, Mass. in 1673. He removed
to Plymouth and was sheriff of Plymouth county
from 1706 to 1721, judge of the Court of Common
Pleas from 1721 to 1731, and from 1739 to 1743
chief justice, succeeding Chief Justice Thomas.
He married in 1698 Elizabeth, daughter of
Jonathan Barnes of Plymouth, and died September
10, 1743.

FAMILY IN THIS COUNTRY

ISAAC born June 28, 1673, and married Elizabeth,
daughter of Jonathan Barnes of Plymouth who was
born Aug. 16, 1677. He settled in Plymouth where
he became one of the first citizens in the
oldest of New England towns. He filled acceptably
every town office which he held, and represented
the town in the General Court of the State. He
died Sept. 7, 1748, and his widow Oct. 19, 1757.
His will dated Feb. 17, 1749 and witnessed by
James Warner, John and Geo. Watson, and Edward
Winslow, and his son Isaac as sole executor. Its
bequests were to wife Elizabeth, of his personal
estate £500, son Melatiah, the John Holme's land;
"yet if he contend in law that I owe him for his
living with me," nothing; daughter Elizabeth
Bartlett, £1,000, besides what he had already
given to her; son Isaac, the house I now live in;
grandsons Isaac, Nathaniel, Thomas, and Caleb,
when 21 years old; granddaughter Elizabeth when
18 years old. His inventory proved, in April
1744, amounted to £1,1741, 16s 8d. The celebrated
farm, "Playne Dealfing," occupied by Governor
Prince in 1666, was bought by him in 1711 and is
still in possession of his descendants, and is
now known as "Lothrop Farm."
