Walter H. Appleget, age 66, of Sigourney died June 10 at Mahaska county hospital.

He was born June 6, 1909 west of Hayesville, the son of John William and Esther Jacobs Appleget. He attended country school and Sigourney high school. He married Berniece Elder March 25, 1929 at Ottumwa and they farmed in the Delta and Hayesville area. They purchased and operated the Appleget Mill in 1958 and sold it in 1964. He was a former member of Eagles Lodge at Oskaloosa.

Mr. Appleget is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Walter (Doris) Waechter and Mrs. Jean Mateer of Sigourney, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Sievert of Caledonia, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Larry (Linda) Brady of Prairie Village, Kansas; three sons, Larry and Allen both of Sigourney and Lynn Appleget of Waterloo. Also 21 grandchildren and three brothers, William of Hayesville, Myrl of Sigourney and Dale of Hedrick. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Doris and Gertrude, a son, Don Appleget and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at the Sigourney Methodist church with the Rev. Frank Greenwood officiating. Burial was at Pennington cemetery. Casket bearers were John Waechter, Mike Mateer, Rick Mateer, Craig Sievert, Ray Snakenberg and Jim Vittetoe.

Holm Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
