Actress. She was an American actress of stage, radio, film, and television. Born in San Francisco, her had childhood in Nevada, yet the opportunity to travel about Europe before studying journalism at the University of Wisconsin, drama and languages at the University of California, and piano at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She began her career on the stage in stock productions at age fifteen and later appearing in a number of plays on Broadway, among them "The Wooden Slipper" in 1934 and "Journey to Jerusalem" in 1940. Debuting in 1928, she performed on a number of network radio broadcasts. From 1938 to 1946, she played the lead on the radio soap opera, "Life Can Be Beautiful". After she was married to British actor, Les Tremayne, they had a morning radio talk show called "The Tremaynes." She made her debut in motion pictures appearing in "The Lieutenant Wore Skirts" in 1956, followed by "Bachelor Flat" in 1962, "Rat Fink" in 1965, "Horror Express" in 1972 and "Grand Jury" in 1976. Among her television credits were appearances on "Dragnet," "The Donna Reed Show," "The Danny Thomas Show," "Get Smart," "I Dream of Jeannie," and "Mission Impossible." On September 26, 1938, she married 1926 Pulitzer Prize recipient in journalism, William Burke Miller, who was working with NBC radio. The couple soon divorced. On December 9, 1945, she became the second wife of British actor, Les Tremayne and they divorced by 1962.
