Edward was born Oct. 3, 1892, he enlisted Oct. 3, 1894 instead of putting 1892 as his year of birth. His name is listed as Edward Kasmerski on his registration draft card. he signed his name as Edward Kazmirski. Edward served in the Twentieth Engineers in France for the Spanish-American War, for the years 1917, 1918. He was a Wisconsin Army Private for the 503 Engineer. He died while over there with bronchitis Jan. 21, 1918. His burial was Jan. 23, 1918. He was 26 years old when he died. Beaver Dam Argus published the announcement of the death of Frances's brother, Edward, as follows: "The first Beaver Dam soldier to lose his life in France is Edward Kasmirski, aged 26 years. A telegram announcing the death of Private Kasmirski was received by his sister, Mrs. Peter J. Veling, here yesterday morning. The telegram came from Washington and contained no other information than that death resulted from an attack of bronchitis. The telegram read: Washington D. C., Jan. 22nd. Peter J. Veling, 205 1/2 Front street. We deeply regret to inform you that Private Edward Kasmirski, engineer, is officially reported to have died from bronchitis. M. C. Gain, Adjutant General.
