Edward served in the Twentieth Engineers in France for the Spanish-American War, for the years 1917, 1918. He was a Wisconsin Army Private for the 503 Engineer. He died while over there with bronchitis Jan. 21, 1918. His burial was Jan. 23, 1918. He was 26 years old when he died. Beaver Dam Argus published the announcement of the death of Frances's brother, Edward, as follows: "The first Beaver Dam soldier to lose his life in France is Edward Kasmirski, aged 26 years. A telegram announcing the death of Private Kasmirski was received by his sister, Mrs. Peter J. Veling, here yesterday morning. The telegram came from Washington and contained no other information than that death resulted from an attack of bronchitis. The telegram read: Washington D. C., Jan. 22nd. Peter J.
