John Toan, of Lyons, died very suddenly at his residence Sunday afternoon. He had been sick for several months but was improving, and his friends hoped to see him out again in a short time. He was sitting in his chair talking with his brother, when he was suddenly seized with a fatal stroke and died in his brother's arms. The disease was dropsy of the heart.
Mr. Toan was one of the old settlers of Lyons township, a prominent member of the bar and prominent mason.
He was buried under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity on Tuesday, and the members of the Ionia bar attended the funeral in a body. Mr. Toan was a brother of Wm. Toan, sheriff of this county.
