DIED
Mr. Elijah Lines, a prominent citizen of Franklin township, fell dead at Dodgeville on Tuesday morning. He was at the time contemplating a trip to Burlington in connection with his father's will, and was supposed to be in good health. He was about fifty years old and possessed a large acquaintance, who mourns his death with his bereaved family.
DEATH OF ELIJAH LINES
The Burlington Daily Gazette, Wednesday, 12/28/1881, page 4
The intelligence of the death of this well known and respected citizen of Franklin township was brought to this city, only today, though it occurred at his home, two miles west of Dodgeville, yesterday morning. His death was entirely unexpected, he having been in his usual health and strength up to the very time of his death. A very few weeks since, his father, Mr. Noah* Lines, died and he had been appointed administrator of the estate. On Monday he had made a full inventory of the property of the estate, and intended yesterday to come to Burlington to file a copy thereof with the clerk. He ate heartily at breakfast, and after making some preparations for his visit to town, passed into another room for some purpose, and suddenly fell to floor and soon expired.
Mr. Lines was a man of large acquaintance in the city and county, having engaged to considerable extent in buying and selling stock. He was universally esteemed, and his loss will be felt in the community where for many years he has resided, taking part in all matters of public interest. He was nearly fifty years of age, and leaves a family to mourn his sudden and untimely death,
