Rites Held Monday For Early-Day Resident Of Union County
Mrs. John Koplin, an early-day resident of Union county, S.D., passed away at the home of her son, John Koplin, west of town, on Thursday, October 21, 1948, at the age of 77 years and 9 days.
Augusta Larson was born October 12, 1871, in Spink Township, Union County, S.D., and was baptized in infancy and confirmed in Ahlsborg Lutheran Church on September 30, 1888. On February 24, 1892, she was united in marriage with John Koplin, and their union was blessed with six children. They resided in Sioux City, Iowa for about nine years, returning to Union county. In 1922 she went to Minong, Wisconsin, where she made her home until about five weeks ago.
Left to mourn her departure are her aged husband, and children, Cora Larsen, of Elk Point, S.D.; William, of Eau Glair, Wis.; Elmer, of Chicago, Ill., and John, of Spink, S.D.; also, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Johnson, of Centerville, S.D. Two children, 1 grandchild, a sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Ahlsborg Lutheran Church, near Spink, with Rev. Howard Youngblom officiating, assisted by a former pastor, Rev. Edstrom.
Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Lowell Larsen, Eldon Koplin, Jack Koplin, Arnold Morehead, Ronald Koplin and Carl Koplin. Burial was in the Ahlsborg cemetery.
Relatives and friends attending from a distance included Mr. John Koplin, Sr., Mrs. C. Webb and Mr. W. Vos, of Minong, Wis.; Mr. Elmer Koplin and children, Helen and Carl, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Johnson and daughter, Martha; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Ecklun, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson and Mrs. Vina Troy, of. Centerville, S.D.
