The Monmouth Review of June 15, 1906, reported that an old resident of Alexis died suddenly on Monday. Luke Simcox, who had been in poor health for the past two or three years died very suddenly at his home in the southeast part of town Monday forenoon, June 11th. Mr. Simcox, met with an accident at the coal mines a few years ago and had not been able to wok since that time. He was quite bad for a time last Saturday night and his life was dispaired of, but on Sunday, he was much better. Monday morning he appeared quite cheerful and was around in the yard and garden but about ten o'clock he passed away very suddenly, heart failure being the immediate cause of death.
