George C. Loy, 56, prominent Delphi business man, died at Indianapolis Friday night .following a nervous breakdown.
Mr. Loy had been one of the best known of the Delphi men and had probably done more towards advertising the town than any other man. He had many unique methods of advertising that helped to build for him a prosperous business. His firm was known as the George C. Loy Roofing Company.
He was man who had many close companion and made friends wherever he went with his genial ways and his kind help. He always had a pleasant word for everybody with whom he came in contact.
Geo. Calvin Loy, son of Frealin and Mary Clawson Loy, was born April 9, 1876, and died at 9:00 o’clock Friday night June 3, 1932, age 56 years and 2 months. He was united to marriage to Bertha Wagoner on July 9, 1898.
To union five children were born: Georgia Quinn of Delphi, Mary Spring of Rossville, and Joe and Lujean at home, and an infant son preceded him in death. Besides the widow and children he leaves to mourn his departure: 2 brothers, L. M. Loy of Buck Creek and Thurman Loy of Delphi; 4 sisters, Mrs. Addie Ashba of Iowa, Mrs. Bertha Cripe of Delphi, and Mrs. Nellie Morrison and Mrs. June Wise of Chicago; also 4 grandchildren.
When a young man he became a member of the church of God of Radnor. He lived most of his life at Ockley and taught school for 13 years. The last 16 years he has resided in Delphi. He has been an active member of the Methodist church and also of the I. O. O. F. lodge. He was a kind and loving father, a most devoted husband, never leaving anything undone that he could do for his family and he will be sadly missed by his relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Delphi M. E. church with Rev. Benjamin Rist and Rev. O. Manker in charge.
