Actor. Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu received celebrity status as a French actor. He is known for his award-winning roles in "The Vanishing," receiving the 1988 International Fantasy Film Award for "Best Actor"; "A Droite Tout, receiving the Golden FIPA in 2008; and "Jusqu'au bout," receiving the Golden FIPA in 2005. In 1985 he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in "Barbarous Street." Other worthy roles were in Roman Polanski's 1976 film, "The Tenant," and "The Professional" in 1981. He often would accept a minor role to work with accomplished directors or actors. He had roles in over 100 television episodes and films. Born into an artistic family, his father was an unknown painter and sculptor and his sister a photographer. He was one of three children. His parents divorced when he was young, with his mother going to Australia with his youngest brother and his father to Canada with him and his sister. He studied theater and film at the Sorbonne Paris III, beginning his career in film at the age of 25. While a student, he had two fingers amputated in an industrial accident involving a hydraulic press. Often playing roles of the hard-faced tough guy, his last role was a 2010 made-for-television movie "Jeanne Devère." He died of prostate cancer. He married and was divorced three times. He had a daughter, who became an actress.
