Obituary
Lewis, son of William and Rachel Dysart, was born in Greensborough, Indiana, Nov. 3, 1845, and died at his home near New Sharon Monday, Jan. 13, 1913. at the age of 67 years, 2 months, and 10 days.

He came with his parents to Iowa when six years of age and located in Jasper county near Lynnville. As he grew to manhood he went through many of the strenuous experiences of pioneer life and these served to broaden and strengthen a character naturally ambitious and kind. He removed to the home near New Sharon in 1893. He was united in marriage Sept. 6, 1877, to Miss Susan H. Ratliff who survives him. To them were born three daughters: Mrs. Mae Savage of Salem, Ia., and Mrs. Anna Rachel Drennan and Mrs. Nellie L. Beaver, of New Sharon all of whom were with him his last moments. There also survive him four brothers and three sisters: Leander of Republic, Washington; Dow of Winside, Neb.; W. Scott of Des Moines; Gerrett and Miss Elizabeth of New Sharon; Mrs. B. J. Charles of Whittier, Cal.; and Mrs. Wm. Arnold of Carlock, S. Dakota.

Mr. Dysart united with the First Presbyterian church of New Sharon August 8, 1909, and was a faithful consistent member, staunch and true to the teaching of Christ and took pleasure in doing what I could for the advancement of church. As a husband and fair friend and neighbor, few men haw equaled Lewis Dysart. To know him was to love and admire his many sterling qualities of a truly Christian character, and in his death his family with a large circle of friends and acquaintances, are left to mourn their loss with the belief that their loss is his everlasting gain.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Thursday morning, Rev. R. H. Boteler of the Presbyterian church in charge, and interment was made in the mausoleum at Hyland cemetery.

Relatives from a distance present at the funeral were: David Savage and wife and Z. S. Ratliff and wife of Salem, Ia.; W. S. Dysart and wife of Des Moines; A. A. Ratliff and wife, Miss Mary Ratliff, Mrs. Louis Renaud. and Mrs. Albert Johnson, of Lynnville; Frank Ratliff of Oskaloosa; Elger Buttler and wife of New Providence; and Mrs. Milton Kenworthy of Wichita, Kansas.
