The Clinton Herald; Monday June 12, 1933; p.8 Last rites for the late Dan Carey, living southeast of DeWitt, who died Saturday night, were held this morning at St. Joseph's church in DeWitt. The Rev. James Curtin, pastor, celebrated mass and hymns were sung by the church choir. Pallbearers were Michael McMahon, John Smith, Malachi McMahon, Frank Melka, M.J. Kearney. Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mr. Carey died about 6 o'clock Saturday evening. he was born May 12, 1866 near DeWitt. April 17, 1912, he was married to Miss Margaret Verstreet, and since that time has farmed. His wife survives, as do two sisters, Mrs. A. Perion of Ipswich, S.D., and Mrs. Edward Moore of Grand Mound.
