John C. Schroeder, 92, of Maple Crest Nursing Home, Whitelaw, died Tuesday evening at the home.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Phipps Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Schroeder was born Jan. 13, 1879, in Branch, son of the late John and Minnie Knell Schroeder. He married Elizabeth Handl March 7, 1905, at Manitowoc.

He was shop foreman for Chicago North Western Railroad until his retirement in 1955. He was a charter member of Machinists Union Local 516.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, Paul, of Cedar Lake and John M. and Robert G., of Manitowoc, two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Smith, of Silver Lake and Mrs. Paul (Marcella) Sammon, of Manitowoc, 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc from 6 to 9 o'clock this Wednesday evening and at noon Thursday at the chapel.
