Mrs. Mary Jane Adair, wife of Joseph B. Adair, died at her home on Church street at noon on Monday after a long illness. Mrs. Adair was the daughter of Alexander Thompson and Jane H. Hart Moorhead deceased, and was born at the Moorhead homestead in White township, on May 21, 1841. On November 9, 1863, she was united in marriage to Joseph B. Adair, who survives her. Mr. and Mrs.Adair located on the Adair farm, south of town , where they resided until 1889 when they moved to the Indiana home in which Mrs. Adair died. She was the mother of six children all of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Jennie M. Belsey, wife of Rev. George Belsey, of Tellaride, Col.; John C. M. Adair, of West Newton; Mrs. Margaret T. McCracken, wifeREv. J.O.C. McCracken, of Johnstown; Miss Ruth Adair, at home; Alexander T. M. Adair, of Allegheny, and William J. H. Adair at home. Besides her husband and children, Mrs Adair is survived by two brothers. A.T. and J.C. Moorhead and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Lowry, all of this place. Early in life Mrs. Adair united with the First United Presbyterian church in this place and was conscientious member of that congregation. She was a highly respected woman with a genial disposition that made her many friends. Mrs. Adair was a prominent worker in the Women's Missionary Society of the First United Presbyterian Church and the W.C.T.U. Funeral services will be held at her late home this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock by her pastor, Rev. Dr. J. Day Brownlee, and interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery.
