Joseph B. Adair Dead

Joseph B. Adair, one of the best known residents of Indiana for many years, died at 12:15 o'clock this morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, the Rev. and Mrs. J.O. McCracken of 127 F street, Johnstown. Mr. Adair was 83 years old. The remains will be brought to Indiana for burial. Funeral arrangements had not been completed today and they together with a detailed obituary notice will be given in Tuesday's Gazette.

Joseph B. Adair

Joseph Blaney Adair, aged 83 years, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. J.O.O. McCracken, in Johnstown early Monday morning, March 26 1917, after an illness of several weeks. The deceased was a son of the late John and Maria Adair who settled on what was known as the Hiram St Clair Farm, south of Indiana in White township in 18??. The subject of this sketch lived for many years on the part of the old homestead now known as the W. A. Evans farm. A number of years ago Mr. Adair disposed of his home and moved to Indiana, where he had since resided. He was married to Mary J. Moorhead, who died about 12 years ago. These children survive: Mrs. G.W. Belsey, of Belvedere, ILL; Mrs. J. O. O. McCracken, of Johnstown; Miss Ruth Adair, a teacher in the Johnstown schools; John C Adair of Donoe, and Alexander Adair, of Pittsburgh. Funeral services were held at the MCCracken home in Johnstown at 10:45 Tuesday morning, by the Rev.E.C. Hayes, D D., after which the body was brought to Indiana and taken to the Adair home on church street, where at 2:30 o'clock this Thursday afternoon additional services will be held by the Rev. J.A. Laurence, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery.
