During his 32 years of service he received many awards including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Army Accommodation, Good Conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Prior to retirement, he built his own home for his family in Ozark. He always loved working in his yards and cutting grass. One of his favorite things to do was just riding around checking out any new construction especially down by the beach. He also enjoyed and treasured spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He eventually moved back to his hometown of Florala, which he loved.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Louise Marrell Aplin; his parents, Joseph Edward (Dick) Aplin and Alice Jackson Aplin; two brothers, Johnny Earl Aplin and Bobby Ray Aplin; and three sisters, Mary Ann Aplin, Celetha Ann Aplin Seymer and Reba Genette Aplin Jackson.
He is survived by one daughter, one son, two grandsons, one granddaughter, two great granddaughters, two sisters, and by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was loved by all, will be dearly missed and remain in hearts forever.
Funeral: 3:00pm, Saturday, February 3, 2018, from Evans Funeral Home.
Visitation: 1 hour before services.
Interment: in Paxton Cemetery with full military honors.
