Son of John and Pearl Marion Presley Smith. He was adopted by her mother's second husband, Henry Robbins in 1918. His father died shortly after his birth of an apparent farming accident. He lived in Onondaga and Oswego Counties in New York for most of his. He married Margaret Doud and they had two children, a son Glenn (Rusty) and Shirlene. He worked for GM in Syracuse for many years. He moved to Marion, Michigan in 1977 after his wife passed away. He is survived by his son Glenn, daughter Shirlene Nowland of Marion. one grandchild. and two half-sisters who live in Washington State.

He is preceded in death by his parents and step-fathers Henry Robbins and Frank Wheeler, half brothers Richard Robbins and Henry Robbins, son John V. Smith, and his wife Margaret who died in 1977.
